Should the UK use the Euro?
It is inevitable that Britain will become part of the ECU (European Currency Unit) Although there have been requests for a referndum for the Euro to be instated in the UK, for now, at least, the politicians are keeping a close eye on how the Countries currently using it are affected by its introduction.

The Labour Party
- The Labour Party introduced the minimum wage in the belief that all Students who can work will be paid a reasonable wage
- They will continue with the current set up of Student Finance (Student Loans, Grants and Tuition Fees)
- They continue to fund Universities through direct Government Grants and have invested an extra £1.7 billion in higher educaton
-Labour's aim is to get more students into higher education.
The Conservative Party
- The Conservative Party would like to raise the threshold for repayments on student loans from the current commencing of repayment once you are earning £10,000pa to £20,000pa
-Against Top Up Fees
-Rather then funding Universities through annual grants they would fund them by means of Endowments.
The Liberal Democrats
- They would like to see all Students able to enter higher education irrespective of whether they can afford it or not
-Grant reintroduction to the poorest students in the UK
-They would replace the Government Taxes on Students, top up fees and tuition; with tax on people earning over £100,000pa
-They believe that Universities should be publicly f
unded and
maintained by the public sector
